Grilling Safety

There is nothing like grilling in the summer months, but with it comes some dangers that could put your home, your loved ones, and yourself at risk. Follow these tips to make your outdoor grilling fun and safe!

  • Propane and Charcol grills should only be used outdoors.
  • Keep the grill away from the home, decks railings, eaves, and over hanging branches.
  • Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the grilling area.
  • Remove grease or fat build-up from the grills and the trays below.
  • Never leave the grill unattended.
  • If you have a gas grill, ensure the lid is open before lighting it. 
Charcol grills
  •  Consider using a charcol chimney starter, it allows you to use newspaper as fuel.
  • Only use charcol starter fluid. Do not add the fluid or any other flammable liquid to the fire. 
  •  Keep charcoal fluid out of the reach of children and away from heat sources.
  • When you are finished grilling, let the coals completely cool before disposing in a metal container.
